Pocket Full of Blues featuring Kate Meehan & Skip Landy
Mackay Entertainment Centre: Friday 22 August 2008
Mackay Entertainment Centre is pleased to present Pocket Full of Blues featuring Kate Meehan & Skip Landy.
Every great blues player needs a great piano player and this is showcased with the combination of Kate Meehan and Skip Landy. Kate’s gutsy vocals emerged from a jazz heritage to be further influenced initially by Koko Taylor followed by Kathy Murray. Skip’s flair for boogie-woogie, rhythm and blues were and still are, influenced by the likes of Miles Davis and Professor Longhair.
Kate has written and recorded music for three albums and won awards for Best female Vocalist and for Song of the Year. Skip is the winner of the 2003 Blues Instrumentalist award.
Together the duo perform foot stomping boogies, funky second line shuffles and intense, soulful ballads in a blend of rich velvet hues.
Their latest album of original works “Pocket Full of Blues”, written by Kate and Kathy Murray was voted the 2006 Blues album of the year.
Dinner packages featuring “Creole Flavours” are available for purchase
